Okay, now that we’ve gotten the obligatory weirdness from Japan out of the way (and I don’t think you’re supposed to translate that bit on the right as “Venisu” ;_;)
.
As I was talking to the girl I asked out a few days ago (who said yes as I announced in that thread in G’spite a few days back), I realized that my brain is separated into two halves, and my more rational and logical half has been laughing hysterically at the emotional end of my brain for most of the last week. The reason: I am a complete idiot around women (which she knows I think, and is mostly tolerant of), and I am a bit of a worryer and so I also tend to blow things out of proportion in my head as a result.
.
Thank God the smart half of my head took a step back, pointed out that I was thinking like a lovestruck idiot and also pointed out what was a more likely real world interpretation of whatever it was.
.
Okay, now that we’ve gotten the embarrassing stuff out of the way, onto to the rest of today’s blatherings.
.
I have, after watching a number of episodes, come to the conclusion that iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia (yeah, that’s how it’s spelled) is actually a fairly decent giant robo affair that focuses far more on the characters than I thought it would, and it also tends to restrain the fanservicy elements more than I thought Sunrise would anyway. Easiest comparison I can think of is an actual giant robo-based Mai Hime, which makes a certain kind of sense, as it was made by the same group of people. There’s the perquisite Sunrise dark twist in the last 1/3 of the series, which I haven’t had the time to watch to the end of.
.
Essentially, if you’re in the mood for giant robots, some angst, drama, and the girl pilots falling in love with their robots…wait, nah. There are better robot shows out there, and they won’t leave you feeling quite so weird after watching them either.
